"Greetings, Fumblefist!"

Hayato stiffened when he heard the voice in his head. He immediately looked down at his hand and the small sapphire scale was glowing. He inwardly groaned. He had just been through an ordeal and he did not want to deal with Jeyld's strange and enigmatic ways at this moment.

"Ah, no need to worry, oh 'great warrior'." He could hear the sarcastic quotes. "In fact, I've come to reward you." Suddenly Jeyld's tone grew serious. "I have not always gotten along with you, Monk. In fact, we were frequently at odds. Like that time I stabbed you." The voice chuckled. "Good times. But I digress. You have done me a service. You have shown me your true colors. You risked your life to save one of my own and for that I am very grateful." Hayato looked over at Ellia's broken form. He didn't feel like he had done much at all. If only his attack hadn't missed! Such a powerful move, but a simple twist of fate made it completely useless.

"Do not feel ashamed. You have always had ill luck with your power. And to have such a technique be so draining upon you. Why, I doubt you could use it more then once a week! And if it misses? Well... let's just say that I have come to help you with that. Search your pack."

Confused, the Monk bent down and opened his bag. At the very top was something he didn't remember putting in, or, for that matter, ever seeing before. It was a single pauldron, made of cloth but of a type he didn't recognize. Smooth as silk but tough and strong with an embroidered edge. It looked like a large dragon's scale, in fact. And on the front, was a large sapphire, in the shape of an octopus.

"This is an item known as 'Hachi's Rest'. While wearing you will not be as drained by your technique if it does not hit it's intended target. You must still rest after using the power but not a full week. If it hits, however, it will drain you just as it always has. Enjoy, Fumblefist."

Hayato smiled at the joke of the name and of the gem. He couldn't help but whisper, "Thanks, Midget."

Hachi's Rest

Item Slot: Shoulder

Effect: While wearing this pauldron, Hayato's 'God Crusher' power will only need an extended rest to recharge if it misses it's target. If the power hits then the recharge is one week as normal. If the power hits a friend then Hayato takes severe damage to his right foot. Also, while wearing this item the 'God Crusher' power will not work against one specific enemy type. If Hayato attempts to use this power against any type of book then the book will take no damage and instead all damage will be dealt to Hayatos left foot.
