PostSubject: Jeyld: Gnome Bard   Sun Mar 02, 2008 6:03 pm

Jeyld is a gnome from the island of Tenshiir in the Boler Archipelago. He hails from the City of All Names, home of the gnomes and those seeking training in illusion and invention. Jeyld grew up in a strange household by his own races standards. He is an only child and was raised by his mother, Seerus WindVoice. His grandfather, Illmik, is a famous man in the gnome community. Jeyld grew up hearing the tale of his grandfather and the dragon, and he enjoyed telling others as well. Soon gnomes and halflings from all across the island would come to Jeyld simply to hear the story that he had mastered telling. Despite the small renown he had earned, Jeyld felt that there was more that he could learn, more that he could tell. And so he followed in his grandfathers footsteps and joined the Long Roads adventuring company. His mother stopped him on the day he left and told Jeyld the story of his father and gave him the sapphire that was left for him. He resolved to seek out his father, and learn where he has come from. Taking only his lute, sword, and crossbow, Jeyld and his long time friend, Arius, an elven warlock, set for the southern shore in search of a boat to carry him across the sea. They were introduced to the human monk Hayato, who has a dedication to his training that the young gnome can not help but admire, and the wise druid Liet, with his wolf companion, has a love of nature and some powerful spells that have so far shown Jeyld just how much respect the world around hiandm deserves. Jeyld can't help but feel excited with the possible stories this group will give him. He watches them all, every detail, for any sign of a tale...

PostSubject: Illmiks Story: Illmik and the Dragon   Sun Mar 02, 2008 6:08 pm

Long ago there was a small village on the western shore that was plagued by a blue dragon. Jeyld's grandfather, Illmik, journeyed to the village, wishing to see the great beast himself. As he approached the outskirts he saw the great leviathan flying above. Illmik followed the beast back to it's lair, a large cave in the side of small cliff. Letting his curiosity get the better of him, he followed the dragon straight in. The beast seemed not to notice Illmik, and instead seemed rather distracted, grumbling about the damp and lack of sand on the island. Illmik watched the wyrm as it paced back and forth, electricity crackling along its scales. Fascinated with the display he began to move forward for a closer look. Never noticing that the beast had been aware of his presence and was watching him as he crawled forward. Illmik finally felt the dragons eyes upon him and turned to face it. Terrified of what he had done he stood and waited to be blasted by the beasts powerful lightning breath. He stood and stared into it's eyes for a long time before the creature finally made it's move. It sat down, and bade him come closer. Not daring to disobey, Illmik moved closer and sat down at the dragons behest. The beast studied him, and finally asked him a question.
"Why have you followed me here, gnome?"
Startled, Illmik responded that he was merely curious, and wished only to see the great dragon himself.
"Are you not afraid?"
Illmik shook his head but his trembling gave him away.
"You do not come to try and slay me?" The beast asked with a grin, knowing full well that any attempts would be less then futile.
Illmik showed him that he did not even have any weapons.
"Perhaps you can help me. I am in search of a suitable lair. This one is too damp and cold for my tastes. I was about to search again but I have no knowledge of these islands. I wish to feel sand upon my scales again."
As luck would have it, Illmik did know about a nearby desert on an island to the west. He told the Dragon this and informed him that the island is home to roving bands of desert nomads who swear allegiance to one sultan who lives in a grand palace. All the tribes on the island are constantly sending him valuables and treasures in homage to him.
The dragon seemed very pleased by this news.
"How do you know so much of this land, small one?"
Illmik told him that he had spent some time in the Long Roads adventuring company and had spent a good deal of time on that island searching for the leader of a band of thieves.
"I am impressed, small one. You have done me a great service, and for this, I shall do a great service for you. I planned on killing you for your curiosity, but your information has bought you your life as well as a gift." With these words the great beast cast a spell upon Illmik. Trembling he simply stood and waited for whatever torture the great dragon decided upon, but all he felt was a warmth. He opened his eyes and saw that the beast was gone, but he could still feel him. As he turned his head to look for the dragon he heard these words whispered into his mind.
"I know your life now, gnome. I will always know what you do and where you are. My gift will be bestowed upon you at my leisure. Go now. Do not seek me out again."
Illmik ran for his life to the nearby village, letting everyone know what had happened. Despite his frantic nature and terror, all the townspeople could focus on is that the beast was gone. That day was the day that Illmik earned his name. From then on he was known as Illmik WyrmSpeaker and his tale was told across the island of Tenshiir until even the Halflings knew about him. He never told anyone what his gift was, but many speculate it was a great treasure, or even the fame that he has enjoyed. Whenever anyone asks, however, he simply shakes his head and turns away.

PostSubject: Seerus Windvoice   Sat Mar 08, 2008 6:08 am

Jeyld's mother is a powerful illusionist and respected member of the gnome society. Although not famous like her father, she earned a small place in history for saving an important artifact from being stolen by goblins. She was hired as a guard to protect a gnomish device as it was being taken to the City of All Names from where it was created in a small town on the south shore of Tenshiir. The two guards were merely a formality as the road to the City was considered extremely safe. However, a day's journey out, a small goblin band was seen headed towards them. With little time to prepare, Seerus took control and forced everyone into a small cave. Hoping to avoid the creatures entirely, she was dismayed when they started heading towards the cave with the obvious intent of entering. Forcing everyone back behind a turn in the short tunnel, she took position close enough to see the entrance. As the goblins entered she felt a gust of wind blowing from an unknown source from the back of the cave. She heard it create a slight howl and an idea struck her. Using a minor trick known to most gnomes, she amplified the sound of the howl and added snarling tones to it. The cowardly goblins heard the vicious illusion and decided that perhaps they would be better off NOT in the cave. They ran off into the forest screaming for their lives. The gnomes exited the cave cautiously but didn't encounter the goblins again. They continued their journey and had no more trouble along the way. After entering the City the gnome creator told the tale of Seerus' talents and she was granted the name of WindVoice. A few days later they were brought news of a goblin band caught the forest they had run into. A much larger gnome patrol had heard them screaming about a terrible beast in a cave and were easily taken care of. Not long after receiving her name, Seerus was approached by a gnome suitor who had heard the tale of her exploit. Charmed by his good looks and strange, calm demeanor, she listened raptly to his tales of his own adventures. Apparently the gnome was from an land to the west, where the gnomes were much different. From his tanned skin and powerful build, Seerus could certainly see that he was different then Tenshiir gnomes, who tended towards slighter builds and much paler skin. The suitor told her his name was Beldon Bluetone. Seerus was quite enthralled with Beldon and was quickly enchanted by his words and enraptured by his vivid blue eyes. The night seemed to blur, and Seerus didn't realize what had happened until she awoke in her bed, alone. Upon her table was a single sapphire and a note that said simply 'For ours.' Confused and hurt, she held onto the stone and kept it safe in a small locked box. She went on with her life, never forgetting Beldon, and was surprised when she grew with child. Knowing of only one who could be the father she felt that union must have been blessed to have been so fruitful. She never told Jeyld his father's name, and kept it a secret until he decided to leave home. She told him the story, and remembering the stone and the note, she gave him the sapphire. Jeyld now sets out with a knowledge of his history, but more questions then answers. Although not actively seeking Beldon, he does ask about him wherever he goes. Unfortunately no one has ever heard of him, and no one has any knowledge of ANY community of gnomes anywhere in the west. But Jeyld does will not give up, a small mystery for him to solve along the way.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you.... Jeyld: Gnome Bard!

I'm quite proud of this work. This is the second version of him and I improved upon the original to no end. I made some obvious modifications to the studded leather armor set and also gave him a custom longsword. The four orbs floating above his left hand is him casting 'Dancing Lights'. And as you can see, Dan, I didn't forget about the red armband there on his right arm Smile

So there ya go Smile... If anyone has any interest in me sketching out their characters then feel free to let me know. I'll fill you in on what I need then Razz

That's killer, Josh - way cool! It's an awesome combo of you as a gnome. Could you do one of Febrien, if you want to and have the time? No rush. She pretty much looks like my Avi, but I'd love to see a full-body drawing of her. Maybe you could do her, and I could put in Kiera and Fenris behind her. Let me know what you think!

PostSubject: Equipment Update   Wed Mar 26, 2008 2:46 pm

Equipment update for Jeyld.

Some changes to Jeylds equipment, including; Masterwork Greatsword, Masterwork Chain Shirt, and the Masterwork Rapier he picked up in the Wizards tower. A note on his new armor and Greatsword: The armor has the same shoulder piece as the old armor because it is in fact a separate piece, he just puts it on over his current armor. The sword looks like the old longsword because that is Jeylds style and how pretty much all his swords will look until I decide to change it. I consider any masterwork item that I pay for to be customized to the characters style anyways. I mean, I know they're better, but damn, an extra 300 gold? The rapier doesn't have that look because he found it in the wizard's tower, he didn't pay for it to be customized.
